First floating wind turbine to be installed in France

The project is part of FLOATGEN, a wind turbine with concrete float designed by Ideol and currently under construction at Saint-Nazaire port, west of France, by Bouygues.

The first floating wind turbine will be installed at test site SEM-REV, near Croisic, operated by Centrale de Nantes School (ECN).

Mooring installation will take place on Summer 2017 using a method conceived jointly by Bourbon’s and Ideol’s engineers, in collaboration with Centrale de Nantes School. Bourbon’s Subsea Services team will be in charge of project management, engineering and mooring installation. An AHTS (Anchor Handling Tug Supply) vessel and ROVs will be used for the pre-tensioning of the mooring system.

"This project demonstrates Bourbon team's commitment to offer integrated solutions in all offshore and subsea marine services areas and work towards the development of tomorrow’s energy resources”. Said Patrick Belenfant, Bourbon’s Senior Vice President of Subsea Services.

Knowing the meteorological conditions of the ocean is a key element for implementing a floating offshore wind project, Open Ocean has developed the perfect tool to help your company: Metocean Analytics, the first online offer for metocean study on-demand. The Analyze tool allows to visualize and download the operational and extreme value analysis of wind, wave, and ocean current at any chosen location: rose, distribution, extreme value, vertical profile, historical weather windows, maps...
