Four potential Floating Wind Areas have been designated in France
Ségolène Royal, French Minister for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy has recently designated areas where a potential development of pilot wind farms and floating farms can seriously be considered.
These four areas cover three different regions which are known as Brittany, Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. Within these areas, the most propitious sites are located off the island of Groix, the town of Gruissan, Faraman lighthouse and the ponds of Leucate.
After a long period of investigation, analysis and consultation allowing the identification of the suitable areas, a call for pilot projects on floating wind arrays will now be launched by the end of July.
