MaRINET2 project granted 1.3 million euros for ocean energy development

Thirty four ocean energy technology development teams were awarded with €1.3 million to test their devices on MaRINET2 project’s facilities as well as in real sea conditions.

MaRINET2 is a €10.5 million project including 34 organisations representing offshore renewable energy testing facilities in Europe and globally. Counting with expertise and participation of 13 countries, MaRINET2 is the second iteration of EU funded MaRINET Infrastructures Network, coordinated and managed by Irish research centre MaREI in University College Cork and avail of the Lir National Ocean Test Facilities. The first MaRINET project ran from 2011 until 2015.

MaRINET2 project aims to support offshore wind, wave and tidal developers by offering them full access to test facilities and site in real sea conditions.

As previously stated here, this was the first series of competitive calls and it will provide approximately 500 days of state-of-the-art testing at 20 facilities around Europe.

To help with your offshore energy project, Open Ocean conceived Metocean Analytics, the first online offer for metocean study on-demand. Metocean Analytics gives access in just a few clicks to a catalogue of validated historical wind, wave, ocean current, temperature data, standard statistical analysis tools and an automatic report generation tool to analyse any offshore location in the world.
