E.ON set to build the first wind farm in the English Channel

Marking the construction of the UK's first offshore wind project in the English channel, leading offshore wind energy developer, E.ON SE, has announced that the turbine foundation for Rampion project will be installed this week. 

The 400 MW prestigious project would constitute of 116 turbines and it is reported that E.ON is currently gearing up to prepare the seabed for turbine installation. 

The project is a joint venture between E.ON, the UK Green Investment Bank and Canadian energy company, Enbridge. 

Rampion offshore wind project is expected not only to serve the electricity needs of up to 300,000 British homes, but also reduce carbon emissions by up to 600,000 tons a year.

Last year, E.ON SE has successfully built Humber Gateway offshore wind farm in the UK and Amrumbank West offshore wind project in Germany.
