Trident Winds proposes California's first offshore wind farm

In a bid to empower USA's commitment to produce more renewable energy, Seattle based offshore wind energy developer Trident Winds working in a proposal for California’s first offshore wind farm.

Located 15 miles off Morro Bay in San Luis Obispo County, California, this pioneering project would be equipped with 100 floating turbines. The project would generate 1,000 MW of electricity, enough to power 300,000 Californian homes.

Ms. Alla Weinstein, CEO of Trident Winds said: "It's not oil, it's not fossil fuel, it doesn't spill, it's energy from the jet stream, as pure as it comes.'' She is beginning a series of community briefings on this project.

Ms. Weinstein was previously involved in some of the world's first floating wind farms, off Portugal.

This initiative is a part of California Governor Mr. Jerry Brown’s directive to have half the state’s energy come from renewable sources by 2030.
