Danish Kriegers Flak Offshore Wind Farm Nears Approval

Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm is on course to receive environmental approvals following assessment by Danish officials.

The 600MW project in Danish waters of Baltic sea would be just 32kms away from the already operational EnBW Baltic 2 offshore wind farm of Germany.

A draft environmental impact assessment concludes that while there will be some impacts on the onshore and offshore environment, these will be temporary and linked to actual construction. The Danish Energy Agency and Danish Nature Agency are jointly overseeing the environmental impact assessment process and the documents are now open for an eight-week consultation that includes a series of public meetings.

Earlier, the European Commission (EC) has pledged up to $169m to connect Germany's EnBW Baltic 2 to Krigers Flak offshore wind park, thus connecting the grids of Germany and Denmark through offshore wind farms.
